What I’ll Be Picking From The Catwalk Next Summer

When looking back at my favorite SS16 looks (see below), there’s absolutely no coherence! What would I favor? The festival dresses from Chloé? Or the rock-chick outfit from Saint Laurent? It’s a difficult decision to make, so how about diversifying our styles for next summer? The SS16 fashion shows were filled with pastel colors, dark tones, ruffles and even activewear, all of which combined spectacularly with a sense of retro ‘90s, urban flair and bohemian spirit. Here are the pieces that I would definitely choose from the catwalk – pieces that are must-haves for the coming summer.

Chloe:

From festival, lacy and silky dresses and tops, to denim separates and overalls – every item on the Chloé catwalk was to die for. But with no hesitation, I have to say that my favorite look was the finale dress, worn by the beautiful Céline Boulay. Those pastel colors, that effortless look and the transparency of the dress are what I call pure perfection.

Saint Laurent:

With a totally different style and mood, Saint Laurent was also one of my favorite shows this year. Hedi Slimane was able to transform the pieces of this colossal fashion house into more accessible and easy-to-wear offerings – and that is genius! If you ask me about my outfit crush, I will have to be subjective, seeing that my all time favorite rock ‘n’ roll model Agyness Deyn was brought back to the runway by Slimane. Plus, isn’t this leather vest amazing?

Stella McCartney:

Moving on to Stella McCartney. My favorite looks of the show are the colorful dresses shown below. These eyelet dresses in acid tones are easy to wear and will definitely make a woman stand out at next summer’s special events. Stella McCartney herself said it perfectly when describing her SS16 collection: “I wanted to celebrate all different types of a woman.”

Balmain:

Over at the house of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing opted for calmer colors, focusing on different shades of nude. Ruffles, cutouts, sheer paneling, suede, tight-fitting tube skirts and macramé were the highlights of his show. My favorite look is the final one, worn by gorgeous Dutch model Doutzen Kroes. The below outfit is classy, sharp and elegant.

Cushnie Et Ochs – Anthony Vaccarello:

Last but not least, two shows that turned up the heat by showing seductive skin were Anthony Vaccarello and Cushnie Et Ochs. Vaccarello, the King of Slits, made a strong push into denim, while also introducing his first collection of bags. Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs captured the essence of their SS16 collection with one inspirational statement: “Life’s too short to wear boring clothes.” They proved their point well by creating outfits that showed lots of leg and were tight in just the right places.
